At the Greenbelt Fund Local Food Symposium on November 8, City of Thunder Bay’s Dan Munshaw received the Local Food Champion Award in recognition of his outstanding leadership in advocating for local food and changing the culture and priorities of the City of Thunder Bay to embrace local in the procurement process. The award was presented by Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Jeff Leal. The most recent data available shows that between 2015 and 2016, the City of Thunder Bay Supply Management Division succeeded in raising the total percent spend by 38% on Ontario and regional foods.
