Sulphur application to field crops

Please make sure that you apply 36 kg S/ha (150 kg ammonium sulphate/ha) to canola and alfalfa, 24 kg S/ha (100 kg ammonium sulphate/ha) to corn and soybean and 12 kg S/ha (50 kg ammonium sulphate/ha) to cereals.
Last year, some farmers had applied 24 kg S/ha to alfalfa on the advice of a consultant and their alfalfa showed pale yellow tops symptomatic with S deficiency. Remember less S application means lesser yield and protein content! Please therefore don’t compromise on S application to field crops.
